If there were a Mount Rushmore of comedians, there may be arguments about the fourth head, but one of the top three would undoubtedly be George Carlin, who died after heart complications earlier this week.

Before Congress heeds President Bush’s call to gift wrap the ocean floor and hand it over to the oil companies for drilling and exploration, we have to wean ourselves off our continuing fuel dependency.

Not surprisingly, the leadership in Iraq has put off efforts by the United States to draft a security agreement intended to define the role of American troops in Iraq for the months and years to come.

It's a difficult, courageous, sometimes dangerous but often patriotic thing, being true to yourself. Perhaps the only thing more perilous is not being true to yourself.
